Coil Design Seminar Impresses University Engineers
Four intrepid engineers from the University of Illinois recently attended a coil design and production seminar at DRS Marlo’s headquarters in High Ridge, MO.
The goal of the event was to learn the basics of coil design and production and to view the software used in this process, followed by a plant tour of DRS Marlo Coil’s 210,000 sq. ft. administrative and manufacturing facility
The seminar was organized and hosted by Paul Brandon, outside sales engineer with Affiliated Steam and Hot Water, located in Alsip, Ill., along with DRS Marlo Coil, a leading manufacturer of custom engineered coils, refrigeration and air handling systems since 1925.
“The importance of this event is to educate and learn more about our products so engineers can create specifications for coils and heat exchangers,” says Brandon.
The event took place at DRS Marlo Coil 's facility located 30 miles southwest of St. Louis, MO. DRS Marlo Coil is a state of the art manufacturing facility capable of producing nearly any standard or custom order.
The highlight of the event was witnessing production of one of Marlo's largest coil orders ever, which was going to New Zealand and Australia. The individual coils were 7 feet tall, over 20 feet long, 42” thick and were pre-coolers for gas co-generation units.
According to Brandon, engineers were happy with the tour and impressed with Marlo’s manufacturing expertise and abilities.
