Customized Live Steam Demonstration Seminar - Affiliated Steam and Hot Water Hosts Neuco Inc.

A Steam Fundamentals Seminar was conducted recently at Affiliated Steam and Hot Water’s headquarters in Alsip, IL for Neuco, Inc., a master distributor of automated controls for HVAC industry.

The purpose of the seminar was to educate Neuco employees on steam fundamentals according to Mike Temes, outside sales representative for Affiliated Steam and Hot Water who conducted the seminar. Topics included steam basics, the operation of steam traps, issues with water hammer and an overview of pressure reducing valves.

The seminar took place in Affiliated Steam and Hot Water’s state-of-the-art Steam Demonstration Room that uses a live glass steam pipe system allowing students to visually see how a live steam system works in real time.

“We are one of only a few facilities in the Midwest with a live glass pipe steam system,” said Temes. “It is one thing to study how any system works, it is another to witness it in action live with the visuals of a cutaway design,” he added.

“The live steam demonstration is a fantastic tool. To see how steam works and how traps work is a tremendous tool and it is irreplaceable,” says Scott Kohler, purchasing manager at Neuco who attended the seminar.

Affiliated Steam and Hot Water is known for their Steam Fundamentals seminars conducted during the fall and winter months, as well as their hands-on seminar format that allows attendees the experience to tear down, troubleshoot, repair and rebuild various types of steam equipment. The purpose of the seminars is to educate current and future customers regarding their steam and hot water systems so that they understand the fundamentals and workings of their equipment.

“An educated consumer is an empowered consumer,” says Rick Lee, president of Affiliated Steam and Hot Water. “We feel that our seminars not only demonstrate the quality of our product but also demonstrates our commitment to customer service,” he said.

“We took over 26 of our sales and management team to the seminar. This was very beneficial to us because we have a wide range of people that have been in the industry from 6 months to 30 years. So the whole breadth of what Affiliated does is very beneficial,” says Kohler.

According to Temes, one Neuco employee said to him, “I have been in the business 28 years and I still learned something today.”

Seminars conducted by Affiliated Steam and Hot Water can be customized to the needs of each company, and can be held during the day or in the evening.
