Cash Incentives Available Through Illinois Gas Companies

In Illinois, many of the state’s gas companies are offering cash incentives to repair, replace and retrofit your steam equipment and controls to promote energy efficiency.

According to Nicor.com, Cash rebates are available to Nicor Gas business customers on all rate classes for the purchase and installation of high efficiency natural gas equipment, products and services. Nicor is offering cash rebates for the retrofitting of Boiler Reset Controls, the repair and replacing of existing steam traps and the installation of programmable thermostats installed on < 300 MBTUH space heating equipment. Rebates can range from $50 up to $250.

Ameren Illinois’s website says cash incentives are available for steam trap surveys, steam trap repair and replacement and mass replacement of steam traps without the survey. Process steam/steam trap projects with an expected incentive of $10,000 or more require pre-approval; this means you'll need to submit an application for review before starting your project. If the expected incentive for your project is less than $10,000, simply verify that it meets the requirements on the application and get started. When your project is complete, submit the required final paperwork and we'll review for incentive payment.

Finally Dsireusa.org says Peoples Gas is offering the Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program to help residential and non-residential customers purchase energy efficient equipment. Rebates are available on energy efficient furnaces, boilers, water heaters, controls, steam traps, equipment tune-ups, pool pumps, insulation, and clothes washers. Businesses and landlords whose facilities are on Service Classification No. 2 are eligible for the non-residential rebates.
